In 2020, we changed the format to one where we track the progress of couples each month. During 2020, we saw at least six couples achieved major progress as a couple working through the 12 RCA Steps:
1. Mary irw Larry from Florida,
2. Helen irw Simon from England,
3. Nancy irw Greta from Maryland,
4. Amanda irw Jon from Oregon,
5. Christine irw Garry from Virginia,
6. Deborah irw Jon from DC
We are so grateful that these couples shared their high and low points related to their experience, strength, and hope.
We are also grateful to Lorraine and Bill from New Mexico, along with Patty and Randy from Florida, for helping us in this process to see these couples complete their steps for the first time in 2020.
If you, or any couple you know, would be willing to work the steps for the first time during 2021, please let us know. and share their results each month, please let us know. We will start in February with any willing couples that want to share their experience, strength, and hope. Also, we would identify temporary sponsors. The tagline for 2021 is “Getting the Step Done in 2021!”
Save the Date:
Plans have started for a 4-hour, mini-retreat on Saturday, February 13th, 2021, from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm (EDT). Registration is available at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040A4CAAA728AA8-step The intent is to provide experience, strength, and hope, related to completing the steps. If you have any ideas, we would welcome them. We are planning breakout sessions on topics that range from How to Find a “workable” Sponsor to Same-sex challenges for RCA couples. You can send suggestions to RCAStep@gmail.com, and registration will open soon. The event will be virtual and free. For anyone who wants to help with planning, there will be a quick (no more than 30 minutes) meeting after our SUM meeting.
The format for our regular monthly meeting is:
First 30 minutes: Opening comments and updates couples. For January, we will have extended invitations to include any RCA goals you may have for 2021. We will also take more time to explain how the meeting works to include breakout rooms.
Next hour: Breakout rooms to work through the step with another couple (typically it is only 4 people in a breakout room); if you have not completed any work to this point, we will pair you with a couple who can explain the process or a couple who is at a similar point working the steps.
Last 30 minutes: Meeting recap and close
